What do I do if there’s a water damage emergency?
The first thing you should do is to stop the water at its source. Unless the flooding is due to an act of nature, find the source of the water and turn it off or seal it up. One important thing you can do in the case of an emergency is to teach everyone in the home where the water main is and how it is turned off. Remember to also turn off the electricity.
What do I do after a water damage disaster occurs?
Call 911 Restoration of Central Maryland as soon as possible! Every minute counts when minimizing water damage.
How long does the restoration process take?
The water mitigation process usually take no more than 3 or 4 days.
How fast can mold grow in my property?
It only takes 24 to 48 hours for mold to germinate and grow. Typically, the spores begin to colonize in 3 to 12 days. The best thing to do before it gets to this point is to call 911 Restoration of Central Maryland.
Can I use bleach to remove mold?
Bleach does not kill mold on porous surfaces. In some cases, it can actually lead to mold growth itself. Chlorine bleach can only kill surface level mold. Because it can grow deep roots within porous surfaces, such as wood and drywall, bleach will not assist you in eliminating mold.
Can you save my flooring after a water damage disaster?
Yes, we can. When it comes to hardwood flooring and water damage, expediency is key. If you are able to remove water quickly and properly dry the floors, you have an excellent chance of saving them before we get there.
How long does mold remediation take?
Typically, mold remediation takes anywhere from 1 to 5 days, depending on the circumstances. The time it takes for the mold removal process depends on many factors such as how much mold is present, where the mold is growing (behind walls, etc.), and the materials it grows on. If you suspect that you have mold anywhere in your property, don’t hesitate to give us a call.
